1999 RULES REVIEW

Thanks to everyone who contributed their input on the 1999 rules!

Please take the time to read the rules in their entirety.

Here are the key Additions and Changes (highlighted in the text):

pg 4-5 - 13/13 Rule - in order to emphasize the focus on SAFETY and good sportsmanship in Club Racing this rule has been broadened to include authorization of penalties to address instances of passing under yellow or red flags, blocking, technical rules infractions, unsportsmanlike conduct on and off the track, and reckless or dangerous driving.

Pg 8 - Tech Inspection, Annual Tech - procedures for Annual Tech of all entries will be developed and circulated to all racers. This process will speed up onsite tech. The section addresses event tech and tech for rules compliance and weighing.

Pg 9 - Roll cages - Eff. January 1, 2000 ALL cars must have full roll cages. The only exception will be Historic Class cars (see rules in that section).

Pg 10 - Windows, Window Net - review specs/requirements

Pg 11 - Seat Back Braces - Eff June 1, 1999 - required in all cars.

Seat Mounting Hardware - Eff. June 1, 1999 - early cars must update seat mounting hardware.

Neck supports - recommended

Pg 13 - OK's participation of SCCA IT, Touring 1, Touring 2, Showroom Stock cars running

under SCCA rules.

Pg 15 - Engine - E30 M3 engines rebuilt to 2.5L using EVO III crankshaft and pistons only

will be allowed to run (up one class) in I Stock.

Suspension - clarifies rules on stock suspension and camber plates (this is not a

change; the rules incorporate the rules clarification issued in 1998 regarding fixed and

adjustable camber plates.

Pg 16 - Suspension - requires stock outside diameter springs

Tires and Wheels - Eff June 1, 1999 STOCK class cars require stock diameter wheels

Pg 18 - 7G - clarifies rule on rear seat sections in Stock class.

Pg 20 - Prepared Class -

Suspension -

- Adjustable camber plates allowed

- Eff January 1, 2000 disallows external reservoir shock absorbers

- Wheels - allows "plus 1" diameter

- Brakes - Eff. January 1, 2000 factory original caliper and rotor size must be used.

Pg 21 - Air conditioning components may be removed in Prepared

Pg 25 - CLASSES

Added new cars and significantly revised Prepared Class structure (parallels Stock class structure again). Unfortunately many Prepared class cars will need to change class

designation. Our apologies, but we think the results will be worth it.

Pg 28 - Appeals - updated to specifically address 13/13 appeals.

Pg 31 - Rules Change Calendar - updated for 2000 rules process.

Pg 33 - Roll bar/cage specifications - an update will be published to define requirements for

a horizontal bar behind the driver (to function as the attachment for required seat back

bracing).

Pg 38-39 - Weights - updated; a further revision will be published for added cars including added

SCCA classes.
